Most of us have experienced this - the rhythmic slurp, slurp, slurp in the early morning or late into the night. You get up and find your pet ferociously licking its paws or scratching behind its ears. Your dog looks at you pleadingly and its paws are damp with saliva. You feel an immense sense of guilt for not being able to help.
